Pretty Dirty - Hosted by Shade Studio

$160.00

Lunch, Farm tour, Conversation, and Floral Demonstration

Saturday 2nd May, 12:30 - 3pm

In celebration of Melanie Stapleton's new book, Pretty Dirty, join author Melanie of Cecilia Fox and grower, artist and florist Anna Engels of Shade Studio for an intimate event exploring sustainable floral design and the cherished relationship between florist and grower. This experience is centred on the book’s principles, guiding participants through the life cycle of flowers "from creation to compost".

The afternoon will include:

  • A guided tour of Anna’s micro flower farm, offering an introduction to the special relationship between a grower and a florist.

  • A casual lunch and engaging conversation with Melanie, who will delve into seasonal, holistic design and the book's core ethos of Creativity, Community, and Compost.

  • An installation demonstration by Melanie and Anna, showcasing the expansive, innovative, and perfectly imperfect nature of working with botanical materials.

  • The finale demonstrates the ethos of Pretty Dirty and affirms the value of our materials' past, present, and future. Anna and Melanie will guide you through the process of deconstructing, separating, and composting our materials. Making textural botanical gestures together to take home and building a compost pile together.

This limited-capacity event is a great pre-Mother's Day outing for florists, flower lovers, growers and gardeners.

Melanie's book, Pretty Dirty, will be available to purchase on the day for $70, and she will be signing copies.

We hope to see you on the farm
